I’m slowly beginning to embrace the joys of seasonal decorating. We’ve been in our house a year now and with little lamb being one it has given me more time to think about things like decorating. Now I’m not going to lie, we just took down her birthday decorations. I think three weeks is a respectable time frame to leave them up considering the work I put in. My honey did an awesome job making a kitchen table and with thanksgiving right around the corner our new table needed some fall flair. This is what I came up with for a fall table setting; I love the simplicity and rustic feel of the setting. My grandpa was a wheat farmer for give or take 55 years, so growing up in the summer I loved going through the fields and picking wheat. I realize now how wasteful that was but how much wheat could a kid pick, you might be surprised. This table setting was so easy; I used burlap for the napkin for a temporary fix. I found a set of 6 cotton burlap-like napkins on amazon for $16 I plan on purchasing.
When we were planning our vow renewal, I hunted through probably every website to locate the cheapest place to buy a bushel of wheat, and of course 90% were sold out. I didn’t end up getting any, so I don’t have a website to recommend but there are plenty websites out there selling them. I found the leaves at the dollar store, which was a great buy! We live in a newer neighborhood with zero trees otherwise I would have gladly used real leaves. I found the orange dried flowers and plastic leaf in the middle in my grandmother’s garage..score! I love being able to create a project with items I’ve found laying around the house! Our table was so festive we decided to have thanksgiving dinner early and have a turkey in the oven as we speak! Our house is being filled with the most heavenly turkey aroma which is much better than the typical dirty diaper smell. Happy November!
